The Alp Muottas is simply a bijou! On nice days, the sun terrace with a unique view from Muottas Muragl is inviting, when it rains, you can sit down in the cozy parlor at the large wooden table and chat with the hosts Christian and Franziska. A friendly couple who fell in love up here. The alpine farmer is a native Tyrolean and serves with his sweetheart up here a nice alpine snack (mixed Plättli with cheese and salsiz), hot Angus sausage, Alpfladen (a kind of tarte flambée) or an Älpler fondue from 2 people on. Again and again there are also special delicacies such as Speckknödel (bacon dumplings) – or, if ordered in advance, Kaiserschmarrn (Austrian pancakes)! Two hikers have previously well informed and reserved the dessert in advance. Host Christian stands at the stove and conjures up a mighty portion, which is sprinkled with powdered sugar – and served with applesauce. The hikers beam from both cheeks as they shove the first fork full into their mouths.
We love the unique setting and the innkeeper couple, as well as their attitude of preparing everything fresh and from scratch. There’s even homemade schnapps and the much-loved Angus Salsiz is available to buy for home.
