After a long hike, the lounge area of the Alto Bar right by the Chantarella cable car/intermediate station Corviglia is as inviting as a second home: music is playing, you can stretch your legs in a four-seater chair with a view of St. Moritz and smile at the sun. Because there is a fine barbecue scent in the air, we definitely want to have a snack as well. Today’s grill chef recommends the homemade iced tea and the burger, which is said to be particularly tasty up here. He advises us to try the vegi burger – something different. Since we like meat, we welcome the fact that the taste of the pea burger is similar to that of meat. The burger is served in a seed bread with chimichurri, grilled pepperoni, grilled eggplant and melted cheese. Sounds good!

While the grill master gets to work on the open grill, we grab something thirst-quenching from the bar, which is set up in a gondola. Besides burgers and focaccia, there are always specials, currently tapas variations, plus cool drinks, ice cream and cakes.

Our chef is already calling – the burger (15 CHF) is ready. Juicy, fresh, with a nice grill note – we haven’t had such a coherent burger in a long time. Thumbs up! You can definitely make a burger like this…
